pass-age hand to hand tote

愛されつつも歴史に幕を閉じたブランドが遺した、こだわりの生地。作り手の情熱が織り込まれた上質な素材を、捨てず新たな価値として生まれ変わらせるこのプロダクトは、pass-age主催のイベント【passage marche】のオリジナルトートとして誕生した。

トータルのデザインを手掛けたのはheso inc.。最初からトートバッグありきだったわけではなく、「残反の生地を活かす」という要件と、マルシェとの親和性からトートバッグに。

Fabrics left behind by beloved brands that have closed their doors — premium materials woven with the passion of their makers. Rather than discarding them, this product gives them new life and new value, born as the original tote for pass-age's event, "passage marche." The total design was handled by heso inc. The tote bag wasn't the starting point — it emerged naturally from the brief to make use of deadstock fabrics and the affinity with the marché format.

hesoのオリジナルブランド【SOAK design by heso】のトートバッグをベースに、新しいパターンを引いている。「ハンドルはもう少し長い方がかわいいかな？アートワークをドンと入れるなら本体も大きくする？」など、細やかな調整と試行錯誤を重ねた。

「アートを持ち歩いている」ように見えるバランスを探したトートバッグは、ありそうでない絶妙なサイズ感。本体に大きく配したアートワークは「人ともの、人と人をつなぐ」というイベントのコンセプトを表現している。肩にかけるとまるで絵画を運んでいるようで、まんまとhesoの狙い通り。

Built on the base pattern of heso's own brand SOAK design by heso, new adjustments were carefully made — handle length, body size, the scale of the artwork. The tote was designed to look as though you're "carrying art around," hitting a sweet spot that's surprisingly hard to find. The large-scale artwork on the body expresses the event's concept of "connecting people to things, and people to people." Slung over the shoulder, it looks like you're carrying a painting — exactly as heso intended.

残反生地だけではなく、廃棄インクを活かすことも要件の1つ。廃棄インクを組み合わせて調色する難しさの中、「いい意味で優先順位を整理しました。デザインファーストだとイメージした色通りになることが最優先だけど、今回は廃棄インクを使うことに意味があるので」とhesoの須藤さんは言う。

仕上がりのかわいさは守りながら、プリント工場と丁寧に対話を重ねて完成した。

Using deadstock fabric wasn't the only requirement — making use of waste ink was another. Amid the challenge of mixing discarded inks to match colors, Suto-san of heso says: "We sorted out our priorities in a good way. In a design-first approach, matching the exact color you envisioned comes first. But this time, the meaning lies in using the waste ink itself." While protecting the charm of the finished product, they completed it through careful, ongoing dialogue with the printing factory.
